Stupid College Lines 1/10/2002
Today was interesting, but I already said that in my last entry, didn't I? Oh well, today was college. I didn't have work thank goodness! Well, I have to take the bus to and from the college, and I have class every Monday and Wednesday. A bus comes right in front of my house and if I stand there then it stops. So I had to ride a bus to the Eugene station, then get on another bus that takes me to the college.

My mom had written down which buses I had to get on because she called the bus station and asked. When I was on the phone and registering for classes, I told her and she wrote those down too. Today I had 2 classes, but only 1 of them will be a regular one. The other one is online, but we had to go to the orientation to it today. My mom hadn't written down the building number and room number, nor the time of one of them and that happened to be the one I was supposed to be at right then. I went to the "students first" building and there was a line behind the information desk, yay. When I got to her I asked her where my class was, and she referred me to the schedule books, which I could have just went to without waiting in line. I found my class and where it was, and went to it. It was basically just making sure we are in the right class and telling what this class is about. It teaches you the concepts of programming. I've done a little programming before, but only for a game, and this class will fill in some holes. I don't know java or html, in fact I've never even tried it so I don't know how hard it is.

Anyway, after the class I had between an hour and a half to 2 hours until my next class started, which was just an intro to the one I will be taking online. During that time, I decided it would be a good time to buy the books for my programming class that I had just taken. There is an on-campus bookstore which has all the books needed for any class, as well as other things like cards and shirts and just some cool stuff. I went to the bookstore and found my packet, but there were 4 checkout counters and each had a line of people behind it that twisted around aisles from being too long. I decided I would wait until later to get them since I didn't have the class again until Wednesday. While exiting the bookstore, I noticed a sign that told of bus passes for students. The passes are good for the entire winter semester and cost a lot less than if you aren't a student at LCC (Lane Community College). I went to the window (thank goodness no line for that!) and she asked for some I.D. She needed a photo I.D. Now, a driver's license would come in really handy right about now, but alas I have none in my possession. All I had was a student body card from high school and my social security card. She asked if I had an LCC student body card and I told her no. I asked where I could get one and she said in the "students first" building. Great, back there, with the line behind the info desk.

I skipped the dumb line of people and went right up to the lady and asked if this was the line for student I.D. cards. She told me to go upstairs and follow the signs. Okay, simple enough, right? Well, there was about 1 sign for every 3 feet I walked pointing to where the photos were being taken. I got to the end of them and guess what? A line. Then I read a sign which stated I would need a printed out schedule to get my photo I.D. because that was proof I was a student. Okay, so where do I get a schedule? I went back downstairs and saw the lady was busy with someone so I asked a man who was by some computers. He said that you get your schedule on these computers but there is a (clenches fists) LINE.................waiting to use them because they are down. Well, I know a lot of people who are probably down but I don't see any line behind them! So to the back of the LINE I went to wait. Well, it can't get any worse, right? Wrong. Now the man says that they had to call out some guy to fix them and it could be half an hour before-- I had already left by the time he got that far in his sentence. Well, the computers are down that print the schedule, which I need for my photo I.D., which I need to get my college bus pass, which I need to get home after my next class! Think my day was rough? It gets worse before it gets better.
