Saturday:
It's the day of the prom and I still haven't gotten an okay to
miss work today because the person who is going to work my shift for
me left early yesterday before I could ask him. When I asked a CSM
yesterday how I could have today off, she said I have to agree with
someone to work my shift and I'll work one of theirs, and it has to
be in the same week. She said all we have to do is write it on a
piece of paper and give it to her, since CSMs are the schedule
people. The CSM said I can do it over the phone, so I called into
work. I asked for a CSM and I asked if she could call Josh at home and
ask if he could work my shift and she said she will and for me to
call back in 10 minutes. I called, and she said he's at Wal-Mart
right now, so I asked if I could talk with him. He got on the phone
and I asked him if he could work today's shift and he asked what
time it was. (he's a Swedish guy so he's kinda hard to understand,
and also to explain to, plus he is very impatient, like if you are
doing something and he thinks you are going too slow, he will take
over and do it faster, even if it's something that doesn't need to
be done fast.) I told him it's from 4-midnight, and he said okay
he'll work it. He was going to hang up but I told him he has to
write it down on a piece of paper and give it to a CSM and he made a
sound like he was annoyed, but said okay, bye, and hung up. The CSM
had told me I had to agree with someone, and write it down, so I did
what I was supposed to.
My mom wanted me to do yardwork before the prom, which was at 7,
so I used the weed eater and cut the grass in our back yard which
was waist-high, lol. I was raking it up when Adam pulled into our
driveway with his tux on. He came out and said, "Jason, why aren't
you ready!?" I told him that it's only 3. He said we are supposed to
go take pictures first. Oops, hehe. I went in and got my tux on and
then got a call. It was Wyatt from Wal-Mart, an assistant manager,
who is right under store manager. He said, "You are coming to work
today, right?"
"No, I got it arranged with Josh and he is going
to work my shift and I'll work one of his another day."
"Josh
already worked his shift today, he can't work a double
shift."
"But he told me that he would work it, so he shouldn't
have said he would if he couldn't."
"You have to go through a
CSM, then manager, then Josh. And you have to have 3 weeks notice.
Josh can't work closing anyway because of his disbility (he can't
use his right arm due to something in his brain, and it will never
heal)"
"Well, the CSM just told me I had to agree with someone to
trade shifts, and Josh agreed with me."
"Josh will say anything.
So, either come in or don't, it just depends on how much you need a
job."
"Okay..." Then I said bye and hung up. I got in the car
with Adam and we were off to go get Estella at Adam's parents' house
(he lives at his aunt's).
We got Estella, and then the limo arrived (yes, Estella's parents
paid for a limo to take us). I also met Adam's date, who is his
ex-girlfriend, though he wants to get back together and she wants to
too, though she currently has a very controlling boyfriend. I have
to admit though, she is pretty good-looking. We took pictures, then
went to Estella's house and took pictures, then at Adam's aunt's
house. Adam's 24-year-old sister was there with us, along with their
neighbor. We also picked up Tammy, who used to work at Arby's, and I
guess she is good friends with Adam's family and with Estella. Tammy
is like 40 though. Very obnoxious, and she made gross jokes too, and
said that Estella is being so quiet, maybe because I was there. I
guess Estella usually acts a lot more immature. I knew Adam the best
out of anyone, and I he's more of an acquaintance than a friend. We
came back to my house to get pictures taken (only the 4 of us going
to prom of course) and then we were off to Nacho's for dinner.
