I had requested this Saturday off to attend Andrea's
and Ashley's graduation, plus my grandparents will be here from
out-of-state. Well, the assistant manager that I told didn't tell MY
assistant manager, so she never heard about me wanting it off. So
she said I'll have to talk to a CSM and try to get someone to cover
for me. We think Blake might. Anyway, my sister, Catie, had erased
the calender on our fridge and with it, my schedule for tomorrow. I
called into work and asked a CSM what time I worked tomorrow and she told me, and then she said
I work until 3 today. I thought it was until 4, but she said again
that it's until 3. I'm like, okay.
I went into Receiving to put some cardboard into the bailer, and
I passed this guy working in there and he said, "Hey, he looks like
Anakin!" The lady who was by him looked at me and said, "Yeah, with
his hair." I looked at them kinda funny, and she added, "That's a
good thing." I asked if they meant young Anakin or older. The guy's
like, "No, we're talking Episode 2 here. Not 7 year old." I'm like,
"Good."
A little later, this lady about 30 years old came in and asked
where our oil is. I said I would show her and I led the way. I
decided to be a little funny, and ask if she wanted vegetable oil or
car oil and I laughed a little, but I also asked just in case she
didn't mean car oil. She said car oil, and that she had a leak in
her car, and the joke didn't seem funny to her at all. I told her
how my dad's car was in a newspaper ad and we bought it. It said
69,000 miles on it, but in reality it had 169,000 miles. It had an
oil leak and just got a radiator leak. It changed hands 4 times
before it got to us, and all of it was unrecorded. The dealer had no
proof the car was even purchased! She said her situation is worse.
She has to make it to San Jose, California in her car, with her 2
sons and she only has $20. She didn't know how she would make it.
She said her boyfriend just left her for some bitch
and left her without money. She was saying stuff at how stupid and
worthless he is, and I said I don't understand how people can be
like that, just leave someone like he did and be mean to them. She
found the cheapest oil and then was headed for the checkout counters
when I said, "Listen, how does $10 sound? (I had $12) She said
either "that would be really nice", or "that would really be
helpful". I don't remember which. I gave it to her and she thanked
me. Then she mentioned again how she doesn't know how she will make
it with her sons, and a few tears rolled down her cheeks. :( I felt
so bad. I wished her a safe trip and she said to pray for her. I
felt really good about giving her the money, since I sure as heck
can't think of anything better to do with it!
Later I had my sunglasses on and Greg came and said, "C'mon Slim
Shady, let's do carts." I'm like, "I thought I was Anakin," and he
said, "Oh yeah." I told him about the 2 other people who called me
that and he said he beat them to it, since he had called me "Anakin"
before. I said I thought it was because I was looking at Star Wars
posters, but he said it was 'cause I kinda look like him too. I
said, "I thought you said I looked like a Dragon Ball Z character."
He said, "You do. You look like a mix between Dragon Ball Z and
Anakin. You're Dragon Ball Anakin... Dragon Ball A!" We both had
walkie-talkies on and one time he said, "Stockman Anakin." I started
to pick up to answer, but when I heard "Anakin" I put it back on my
pocket and looked at him who was right by me doing carts, too. Grrr.
He said that's what he's going to call me from now on.
At 3 I clocked out, and I was getting something to eat when Linda
asked if I was on break. I told her I'm off and she said she has me
until 4. I told her a CSM told me until 3, and we had a little
discussion with the CSM and she claims to never have told me that.
But why would I lie just to work an hour less? I want all the hours
I can get. It was a misunderstanding and I didn't get in trouble,
thank goodness. I talked to Carly since she had just come in, and
she was tired and didn't want to be there, so I kept her company. I
left around 4 to catch the bus.
There are 2 buses that come by Wal-Mart: bus 66 and 67. 66 is
already heading back to the Eugene Station by the time it gets to
Wal-Mart, whereas 67 goes to the mall, and other places first. I
was walking up and saw bus 66 leave. Great, that means 66
comes again in half an hour. I knew that the next bus to come would be
number 67. I asked the guy what time it was and he said 4:23.
I looked at the times posted and bus 67 comes at 4:26. Okay,
that's better than waiting 30 minutes for a shorter ride on bus 66.
Well, it didn't come within 3 minutes, in fact I waited about 10
minutes and no bus. I thought maybe his watch was off, and the next
one would come at 4:56. I went to the bus stop for 66 and the next
one was at 4:53, plus this one was a shorter ride. After another 10
minutes, bus 67 came by! I'm like "WHAT?" 66 is supposed to come by
3 minutes before 67 does. Well, after another 10 minutes bus 66
finally came.
At the Eugene Station, I saw that the last bus that goes to
Junction City, bus 95, had just left. Oh well, I needed to go to the
bank to cash my paycheck anyway. I rode the 51 bus that left at 5:30
to Santa Clara where my bank was. I got there at 6. Guess what? The
bank closes at 5:30! Well, the only thing to do now is wait 30
minutes for the next 51 bus, since that one takes me the closest to
my house besides the 95 which takes me right by my house. The
closest 51 takes me is 6 miles from my house, so I would have to
walk home while I waited for my mom to come by and pick me up when
she could. Only problem is, she doesn't know I missed the bus so she
wouldn't come get me and I would end up walking the whole 6 miles,
when it's getting dark. I decided to ride the next bus BACK to the
Eugene Station and play DDR a little since I had some time to kill,
then call her. Well, my mom was at Andrea's award ceremony and
wouldn't leave until it was over, which meant I would have to ride
to the bus stop that's 6 miles from my house and walk for an hour
until she came. As it turned out, I enjoyed the walk and it allowed
me a lot time to myself for once and I could think of something that
I needed to think out. I had just about thought it all out when my
mom came by and picked me up. What a day!
