I worked today, and Wal-Mart closed at 6, and I
worked until 6:40. My family came and picked me up and we were on
our way to Autzen Stadium where the Oregon Ducks play football. We
were going to watch fireworks there instead of over the Willamette
River in Harrisburg like we always do. We heard the Autzen Stadium
ones were the best around. My friend, Kim, was maybe going to the
Harrisburg ones and if so, I was supposed to meet her there, and
also since Carly lives in Harrisburg, she most likely would go too,
and she said she would look for me. I was supposed to call her at 8
and make sure. Well, all that was down the drain since my family
wasn't going back toward Harrisburg now that they were already out
in Eugene, and any lip from me would mean my dad getting upset, I
already knew that. He really hates when I complain about anything.
Anyway, we arrived there and we had to take shuttle buses to
Alton Baker Park. They were packed in the buses and we all went to
the back where the most empty seats seemed to be, but there weren't
any, so we would have to stand. Well, on the way to the back of the
bus, I noticed this girl sitting in a seat by herself, so I
immediately squeezed back toward the front of the bus and asked if I
could sit there. She let me. She was cute too :) I asked her if this
was her first time going to these fireworks and she said it was. We
talked a little more and when the bus stopped, I said, "Oh, so I
suppose you want me to get out so you can," like it was a lot to
ask. She said, "Yeah, that would be nice." Amy told me later that
she thought I knew her, how we just started a normal conversation
and all. I said I had never met her before in my life. Well, I got
some food from the booths and then we waited for it to get dark. I
saw several couples, mostly my age, wrapped up in a blanket
together, and I thought of how I was with my family, and that's how
it's almost always been. Never with anyone else, never with a
girlfriend, always just with my family. But it didn't bug me as much
as it usually would, since I think I'm getting much better at not
worrying about my loneliness anymore. I can accept it easier now.
The fireworks were good, about as good as Harrisburg's. The only
thing better was there wasn't as long of a wait while they reloaded.
I love the really loud ones! When it was over we found the line for
the bus that was about a mile long. I had the blanket wrapped around
me and over my head like a hood. Finally more buses came and we had
to stand again, but the lady I was standing by had an empty seat and
she said someone could sit there if they wanted. My dad didn't want to,
Ben didn't want to, and no one else did, so I just sat down. What's
wrong with sitting by someone you don't know? I mean, they were
STANDING by people they didn't know, probably closer to them than I
was to the lady, lol. The lady was holding a very cute baby girl who
was asleep. She looked so comfortable, so peaceful. The lady's mom
and other daughter was in the seat in front of us and the daughter
was like 2. She was really cute, too. We talked a little bit, and
then it was time to get out. We went home, and then I started
writing this... |
