Just some
little things... |
7/13/2002 |
The other day at work, I overheard 2 assistant
managers talking on the walkie-talkie (I have one too) about the
printer in the back not working. Katrina was telling Alisha that she
had messed with it and still couldn't get it to work, so she was
having someone come out to fix it. Well, there was no opening
stockman since Greg left, and my shift started at 11, so the carts
were a mess, otherwise I would've gone to try to fix it. Anyway,
when my shift was about half over, I went to the back and the laser
printer said "READY" on it. I first needed to decide if it was the
computer having some setting wrong, or not having the printer
configuration set right, or if it was the printer itself. I asked
someone working back there which computers used the printer. She
told me and I asked if people had tried to print from more than one
of them. She said they had tried many of the computers and it still
didn't work. Okay, so it wasn't the computers. I found the network
wire on the printer and saw where it connected to the wall. I
unplugged it and plugged it back in. Then I checked to see if there
was an "online" button of the printer. There wasn't one, which meant
it would automatically be online. I turned if off and back on again.
This weird message was in the little window, and I pressed the "GO"
button and it printed something. Then it started printing a whole
buncha stuff so I took one and found Katrina and asked what it was.
She asked where I got it. I said it was coming out of the printer. A
lady said it was hers and hurried off in joy of the printer working.
I went back there and 3 associates were crowded around the printer
and grabbing their papers from it. Apparently it hadn't been working
since 6 that morning and people had tried printing many copies of
their stuff. They found out I got it to work and said many
associates had tried to fix it. They said they would put my name in
for a Kudos, which was something where when you do something really
good, you get your named called at the next Friday meeting and get a
Kudos bar. I walked back out to carts and met Assistant Manager
Alisha and I told her I fixed the printer. She got all happy and
said over the walkie-talkie "Did you hear that? Jason fixed the
printer!" Asst. Manager Katrina was nearby and looked our way. She
was waiting for documents, too. I went and did carts right afterward,
a huge smile inside, but wanting to get away from them for some
reason.
P.S. I got a "thank you" note today from Kelli about the
graduation present I sent her. :) That added some joy to my day,
especially since she didn't seem too excited about it prior to this.
She sent me her graduation picture too! |
