The carts were looking good due to business being a
little slower than usual and there being 2 stockmen working, so
Asst. Manager Alisha told me to do some zoning (straightening
shelves). Well, I was doing that when a customer came and asked if I
worked there. I thought she meant in this department, so I said
"no". She said "okay" and took a nearby ladder. I went after her and
said, "No, I work here, but not in this department." She needed to
get a plastic tub thing off the top shelf, and only Wal-Mart
associates are supposed to get stuff up there. There was a stack of
5, and I couldn't reach to take one out, so I told them I would have
to take the whole stack down, and then I would just put the rest on
a lower shelf. Well, I was slowly carrying the stack down (they
weren't very heavy) when suddenly something that was on top of them
slid off! When they were falling, I realized they were the lids, and
they had been stacked on top of the tubs. They fell on the customer
and hit her shoulder. She said it hurt a lot, but she didn't look
like it did. She said she would feel better if it got reported
(Yay, go me). I decided to go up with her so she wouldn't have to
describe me, she could just say it was me, and since I caused it, I
wanted to take responsibility. I felt bad after that until...
I was on the parking lot and walking through the rows of cars
when a car on my left started backing out. I kept walking, and they
kept backing out, and were getting close! I move over to my right,
but there was a parked pickup truck there. The car didn't stop and I
wondered if they were just going to run into me or the truck if I
wasn't there. The kept backing up just as fast, making no signs to
stop, and (this all happened very fast) right as their back bumper
was about 6 inches from my legs, I jumped onto the back bumper of
the pickup truck and walked along it and hopped off. I looked back
and the car stopped about 3 or 4 inches from the truck. Probably
would've broke one or both of my legs! |
