My friend, Kelli, is upset with me, well, more upset
with someone else, but at me, too, for getting involved in something I
should just leave up to her. So I was a little bummed out about
that, plus the fact that this is hurting her a lot more than me. So
during the first part of work while pushing carts, I was thinking
over what happened, thinking about her entry that told about it,
thinking of what possible ways I could be of any help to her without
my usual more hurt than help, and a little of beating myself up for
that stupid phone call to her ex that started this mess, which I
already do on about a weekly basis even before this. When I was
going to one of the things where people put carts they are done with
in and was going to take a line of them, I noticed that the straps
weren't fastened and that gets carts caught, plus it bugs me, so I
stood there fastening it when I heard a voice behind me saying,
"Well, are you just going to stand there or are you going to let me
put this cart in?" He was a guy like in his thirties and he looked
American Indian with a little poofy hair. I wanted to say, "Are you
going to stand there and whine about it if I don't?" but what came out
was, "Well, actually I'm bringing these carts out, not in." He said,
"Well you can take this cart too." Again, I wanted to say, "Well
duh, do you think I was going to leave that one out here all alone?"
but I didn't say anything. But, the thing about pushing carts is
that if you're upset, it's a physical job which requires strength so
it relieves stress plus you can slam them around all you want and no
one looks twice since they make enough noise already. And after
about 2 or 3 hours of that, you calm down, cool off, to where you
can be happy and laugh at things and things don't seem that bad,
like everything will be alright. Well, after I was feeling better, I
came inside and this girl asked if we found any money laying on the
ground, like $30 or so. As I was walking in and hearing her, I found
a nickel on the ground and picked it up and with a straight face,
handed it to her. She looked at my hand and closed her mouth, then
walked away. Patrick, who was giving a break to the people greeter,
started laughing and said to try the Service Desk, then he gave me a
very soft "high five" since he was laughing so hard that he couldn't
slap my hand any harder. He said that was terrible as he laughed
about it. Well, at lunch time, the cost of my lunch was exactly the
amount of change in coins I had, including the nickel, so it was a
good thing I found it! :) But one bad thing, me have a sore throat
from wearing shorts and it turned out to be colder than it had been.
:( And Kelli, anything I can do, just let me know, just make sure
it's not something I can manage to make backfire, lol. Hope you feel
better! |
