My friend, Amber 9/16/2002
I first met Amber when Alisha had me help her put some stuff away in the back. She is probably the cutest girl I've seen in a long time, aside from Kelli of course... *winks at Kelli*. Well, usually I talk to someone a little and get an idea of their personality before complimenting on their looks so it will seem less like I'm hitting on them, and more like a friendly remark like usual. But this time, I told her flat out, "You know what? It has to be something that really stands out for me to comment when I first meet someone, but you are very pretty." She just smiled. I found out she worked in Stationary and I went and talked to her a little. She is going to go to college to be a computer engineer.

The next time we talked, however, is what started a huge mess that was entirely my fault :(. I could tell something was wrong, but she didn't let it affect her work. I helped her straighten shelves as best I could (I don't know where anything goes hardly) and she told me that she's not having a good day, and it started with a talk with her ex-boyfriend, and with him telling her that she's not good at anything, or something similar to that. She looked like she was going to cry. She said she still likes him, and it will be hard because her family is going camping soon and they invited him since her parents just love him. She told me she wasn't mad at him, and he didn't say it mean like he was trying to hurt her feelings.

Well anyway, I saw who I guessed was her parents talking with her, and they saw me with her and later her mom asked me what was wrong with her. This should have been a huge red flag to me "she didn't tell her parents what was wrong, so obviously she doesn't want them to know" but that would be a smart thing to realize, so of course I didn't realize it. I told her mother that her ex-boyfriend had said she can't do anything right, but he didn't mean it in a mean way (man, I feel like such a jerk now, and I'm really embarrassed and ashamed to tell about this and it be true).

Well, after 2 days, I saw her again and she was down again. I asked her what was up, and she said someone from Wal-Mart told her parents about what happened, and her parents really like her ex, and she basically had 2 days off work in which she was given "Hell" from her parents. Her ex also found out and said he was going to question everyone at Wal-Mart to find out who (he really wasn't going to). I asked if she thought it was me, and she didn't know who it was. I told her it was me, and tried to give some excuses, but no excuse would be a good one. Well, after getting no responses from her, I asked if I should just go. She said, "For now, I don't want to say anything I'll regret later." I didn't say anything to her, but when I was off and walked past Stationary, I got stopped by the department manager asking if I was on the clock. I wasn't. She said that Amber is, and she has work to do and for me to let her do it, and I don't need to be walking back and forth by here. I told her I was just doing work and I didn't want to walk all the way around the store just so I wouldn't walk by here. She didn't seem to hear that and just repeated what she said again, grrrr! Well, the next day I didn't say anything to her, and the next day she was off. Then she had her camping trip and when she got back, she still didn't say anything when she passed me. I talked to her really good friend, Chris, and asked if she was still just mad at me. He said probably just to let her be the one to talk. Well, the next day I had to bring something to Stationary so I did. Then I asked if she was okay, or if she was just still mad at me. She said she's okay. I ran into her by coincidence about 10 times during the day, whether we both came out of the bathroom at the same time, or both had cardboard to put in the compactor. When I was doing carts later, she happened to come out to her car which happened to be right at the same place I was. I asked if she thought I was a jerk, and she thought a little and said "no..." She's still a little sore about it and she's still having a little trouble with it at home, but not nearly as much as at first. I started smiling and saying hi to her when I passed her, and she would answer, but never say it first, though I gave the opportunity. After a few days, she started talking a little more than just answers, and she would actually smile too. I knew she was leaving for college in about a week, and I wanted to take her to a movie or something to make up for the wrong I did her, and when she went out to her car to go home 2 days ago, I went out there and brought that idea to her attention. She said she's really busy getting ready for college (her dorm too) and spending time with her family, and basically every second she's not working she has planned. Oh well. I asked if I could at least get a hug. She stopped a second, then got out of her car and hugged me :)!

Yep yep *does dance*. Well, thanks for reading, and leave lots of notes! Laterz.
