Today at work Josh opened and didn't do as well as 2
days ago with the carts. Two of the 3 rows of carts were full, with
one empty, and of course the covered area outside was almost empty.
Well sure, the covered area is for when you need to fill up inside
fast, but the other stockmen use it way too often, and that just
means more work for me since I'll have to fill it back up when I
close. I just leave that area alone, and that means that many less
carts to deal with. Well, Josh was scheduled to leave an hour after
I came in, and guess what? He brought in a total of zero carts in
that time. He was inside somewhere, and he finally came out to tell
me he will be back in a minute; he has to call someone. Okay, sure
Josh, just as long as you don't come out here and take the carts
from the covered area that I just filled up while you were inside.
Then I saw him gathering some carts in the same area that I was, so
he comes to me and points to the carts he was gathering, and tells
me there are a lot over there, and goes inside. When 5 o'clock came around,
he left and I was glad.
Elisabeth was there, and the first time I saw her it was almost
time for my break, and she was walking outside and said she's taking
her break and I'm taking mine right now, too. Then she said to come
outside so she could smoke, and I'm like, "Okay." She told me about
this customer who was really being difficult and stuff. She also
told me that she and Amanda were at Mike's house last night and
Amanda brought my They Might Be Giants CD and they listened to like
the first minute of each song, and it sure gave them a good laugh,
lol. Mike likes her, I think, and she goes over to his house with
other people, too. When she talks to her friends about it, it sounds
like she likes him and like he's competition for her boyfriend, but
when I ask her about it, she says she doesn't like him and it's just
a joke thing and how he thinks all the girls like him. Hmm, that's
the opposite of me, I think no girls like me, lol, and I'm probably
right.
Well, now on the topic that the title is referring to, there were
some girls standing outside Wal-Mart's doors requesting donations
for Womenspace. They were around 17-18 years old. I finally asked
what Womenspace was, and they said it was shelters for battered
women and children. Oh, I see. The first thing I said was, "Well
those shouldn't need to exist," and the girl agreed with me. I told
them I was on the clock, otheriwise I would give some money, and
they thought that was really nice, and said I didn't have to, like
since I worked there and it was for the customers. When my lunch
came around, I had to check to see if my pizza from yesterday was
still in the refridgerator in the break room, since they clean them
out sometimes. If it wasn't there, I was going to go to Subway.
Well, it was there. I went outside to the donation table and asked about
it some more. You could either donate money or buy stuff on this
list and give it to them. Most people see the girl, hear their
request and say, "No thanks," and walk away. Well, that's
understandable... if it's for a class trip to Hawaii or something.
But I mean, c'mon, this is for abused women... even children. No one
deserves that, especially loving wives or girlfriends, or children
who have done nothing, but their drunk father takes it out on them. I
took out $10 and showed the girl. She was expecting like $1 and her
eyes got big and asked, "Are you serious?" I dropped it in the jar
and she turned to the other girls sitting behind the table out there
and said, "We got $10!" and they all were surprised and all thanked
me and I said they are welcome, but that I had to go inside and eat
lunch now. Hehe, that felt good. Besides, what better can I spend
that $10 on? Me? Me who has never been abused in the least? On a CD
or something? Ha, no way.
Well, around 10 my mom called saying they are going to a movie
and will be done around 12:20 just to let me know. Great, and they
let us go at 11. No one wants to drive all the way to Junction City
to drop me off, and the only one who lives near there is Carly and I
can pretty much guess what her answer would be, lol. Besides, even
if she didn't have a problem with it, most of the time she's not
going home after work, and is going to a friend's house... nowhere
near Junction City. So, I spent my time waiting in the electronics
department and listening to 102.3 ('70s, '80s, and '90s) on 3 of the
stereos in there, lol. I found a broken CD case of Shania Twain's
newest album and the first CD was missing. I showed it to Greg on
overnight maintanence (ironically he lives in Junction City, too, but
he goes home at 7 in the morning) and he asked where it was. I told
him where, and he showed someone else and said, "Well, they stole it
after all." I guess they were watching someone or something before.
When my parents and sister picked me up, I found out they had
seen "Signs". My mom said it was really scary. That's such a cool
movie. Amy hasn't seen it, so I plan to see it with her soon. I'm
listening to my newly-downloaded Ace of Base songs right now. They
are cool, hehe. Well, laters. I'm not feeling too well. Good thing I
have a day off tomorrow, although I work the next day.
