Christmas

Man, it's been crazy at work. It's busy all the time.
Today was about the same as yesterday, except I'm not feeling too
well and 2 less stockmen were there. I came in at 2 and Josh was
there and said that Shane, who was supposed to come at 7, didn't show
up at all, so Josh was the first stockman there at 11, and I came in
at 2, so needless to say, we were going to have our work cut out for
us. Surprisingly, Josh kept going to get carts along with me and
beckoning me to come get carts, too. We did pretty well for
ourselves, but he had to go at 6 I think, so I was by myself after
that. Previously, I was wearing gloves as the only protection from
the cold, since only my hands, ears, and nose get cold out there. I
had been spiking my hair up so I couldn't wear a hat, and if I
didn't spike it up, I would have hat hair unless I wore it all day.
So, I had my dad cut my hair and now it's about a half an inch long
and I wore my dad's black and white beanie. He said I can have it.
Well, I went to bed around 4 this morning, and I woke up at 8:45 with
a dry mouth from the heater running. I also had a stuffed-up nose,
and a sinus headache, and my eyes hurt, especially in the light, and
the beanie was really itchy the whole day, and it also made my head
hurt for some reason. I was tired, too. Basically I didn't feel like
pushing carts, and I slacked off a little which just hurt me in the
end. But toward the end, I felt better and carts was no problem.
While on my lunch I walked around with Elizabeth while she put
stuff away from a "return" cart and she was telling me about her
parents visiting her and now they left. She said she was crying a
bunch and her b/f said, "Well, I wasn't going to tell you this
but..." and she got all excited and asked what it was. He said he'll
let her have a dog. So she's going to get one pretty soon. I guess
she likes them a lot.
I saw something that reminded me of our Star Wars Monopoly game
at home. I remembered that when Carly heard that we have it, she
said, "Aww! I want that! I've been trying to find it." It turns out
there were 3 (4 now) Star Wars Monopoly editions. Episode 1,
Episode 2, Classic Trilogy, and Classic Trilogy Limited. We have the
Classic Trilogy and she wanted the Classic Trilogy Limited, which
has different pieces and it's nicer. Well, I went online and finally
found it and ordered it for her, hoping she still wants it. I talked
to her on AIM this morning and asked about the TV she was going to
sell me, and she said she'll sell it, since her brother made her mad
and she was only waiting to see if he wanted it first. I told her I
got her a Christmas present, and she said I shouldn't, because she
doesn't have enough money to get everyone presents and she'll feel
bad. Well, it's already coming in the mail, and you can't return it.
After debating a little, I said that since it's about the same price
as what she was selling me the TV for, we can just trade, and she
liked that better.
On break Carly was telling me she already got her ticket for "The
Two Towers" which comes out on the 18th. And she said that Nick went
to get his and they're sold out, so she guesses she'll be going
alone, lol. He wanted her to cash in her ticket and get one for a
later showing (there's no way they will miss out on opening day) and
she said she works after the first showing, so that's the only one
she can see that day. Well, I hope they have fun anyway.
When I was at work and done with carts for the night, Support
Manager Jay said to help Carly clean up the toy section. While we
were doing that, we went by the Monopoly games (they don't have any
versions of the Star Wars ones) and I mentioned how there were so
many versions of Monopoly. She said she still hasn't gotten Star
Wars Monopoly, but she found it on eBay and is going to buy it this
Thursday. Wait a second, this can't happen. How can I prevent her
from getting it without telling her what I got her? Hoping to be
lucky, I asked her if it was the Episode 1 version *crosses
fingers*. She said it wasn't, since she doesn't like that one. Well,
I still have a chance. I asked if it was the Limited edition, and
she said she hopes it is. *sigh* Thursday comes before Christmas, so
if she gets it then my present is worthless. And I don't think I'd
be able to convince her not to get it without telling her that I got
it already. She really wants it. Well, I didn't tell her then, I
wanted to wait.
I got a ride home with her, and I don't remember what we talked
about. I think it was games. But when we got to my house, I told her
that I don't want her to get the Monopoly game on eBay, because
that's what I got her. She was silent for a second and then said,
"You did? And I was going to buy it, too." I said I know, and
explained quietly how I looked online and why I was telling her
about it now. She was silent for a while and I couldn't tell but it
almost looked like she was going to cry. Then she looked at me and
said that it was really nice of me. I didn't know what to say, so I
said, "Ahh, it's nothing." She said, "Yeah right." I said,
"Well... you gave me a ride home, and that's nice." She said, "Yeah."
And I said that we were even then. She said, "Yeah right," again.
Well, now she can spend her Thursday's paycheck on something else,
but I had to ruin the surprise for her on Christmas morning. I wish I
didn't have to. I just hope she doesn't feel bad for not being able
to afford anything for me. She is giving me her TV, and I'm happy
just having her as a friend. I know she wants to get me something,
and so I'm fine with that, even if she can't. I guess I'm pretty
easy to please, lol. |
