Oh man, the
craziest day at work |
12/14/2002 |
I walked in and Brian had a job for me even before I
clocked in, so I had to clock in first and then help him take 4
bikes out of the Layaway trailers and put them back in the store
where they go. It turns out there were only 3, so I put them where
they went which meant finding the right slot that they go in, and
one had to go on one of the top ones so I had to get a ladder and
put it up. Steven was walking my way so I asked him to hand the bike
up to me when I was on the ladder and he did, but he gave it to me
backwards so I had to turn it around while on the ladder with it's
tires hitting the tires of the other bikes in the next slot, and the
only way I was able to do it was while holding it over my head. That
was difficult to say the least.
I did the carts some more and got some pretty good progress done,
and then went inside to help with putting returns back, and about
halfway through that customers started asking where things were, or
for me to help them get something down, or I got called places to
take a heavy thing out to someone's car, and these were so close
together that I didn't have time to even return to my cart of
returns. By the time I finally went back to check on the carts, they
were out, but customers come first, so I was doing exactly what I
was supposed to. They tell me that a customer carry-out takes
priority over even a direct order that the district manager gave to
me. Well, I filled up inside as best as I could, and by that time it
was 11:30 and that's around the time they usually let us go, but the
parking lot was a mess. I told this to Support Manager Tracy (T.K.)
and she asked if there was enough carts to last customers through
the night. I said there was. She said to not worry about carts then,
just help straighten up inside. Well, that was cool to not have to
worry about carts. Everyone was helping in Toys since it was the
messiest department, so I helped there, too. My mom and Andrea came
in to pick me up around midnight, and I asked how much longer we
would be there and T.K. said around a half an hour. My mom didn't
want to wait that long so she asked if Carly could take me home, and
she said she would.
When it was finally time to go, I left with Carly and she was
getting cough drops since she had a sore throat :( and she felt she
might be getting the flu. :( She didn't talk much during the
ride home and she didn't look too well, either, and said she hopes
she can come into work tomorrow. I felt bad and wanted to give her
at least some comfort knowing she must be feeling awful, so I reach
over and rubbed\massaged her shoulders and upper back (below that
was against the seat) and from what I could tell it relaxed her a
little. After about 10 minutes she suddenly pushed her shoulders up
like I had tickled her neck. She said she doesn't like her neck
being touched. Well, she dropped me off and after a little bit of
boring computer use, I went to bed. |
