My dad's
birthday, and Kelli's too |
4/17/2003 |
Yep, today my dad turned 44, and my friend, Kelli's
birthday happens to be today, also, which is why it's easy to
remember both of them, plus it's the day before my anniversary. No,
not my anniversary with someone, but tomorrow is the day I got hired
at Wal-Mart, and I get a raise, too (I don't care about the
anniversary thing except I get a raise, lol). My dad worked today,
though, so we didn't celebrate it today. We're going to tomorrow,
while I'm at work.
But today, I got the program FF7Music to work. For some
information, there is a Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation and one
for the computer. The songs on the PS version are by an orchestra
and some have singing (great songs). For the PC version, they have
midi versions of the songs. For those of you who aren't familiar
with that, it's basically like playing a song on a music keyboard.
You get close to how it sounds, but it doesn't sound the same, and
you can't have singing. FF7Music is a program that Ficedula made
that hacks the game to let you play MP3s on your hard drive instead
of the midis from the game. They sell the FF7 soundtrack, and so I
ripped the songs from it and I used FF7Music to assign each mp3 with
the equivilant midi, so now the music sounds a lot better while
playing the game, and now the awesome "One Winged Angel" song for
when you fight Sephiroth's last form has the singing it's supposed
to. So I was busy typing in the file names for all the MP3s for
each song, lol.
Last night, Carly told me she might call in today, and she'd call
me if she did. She didn't call, so I figured she went to work. My
parents and Andrea were going out somewhere, so I went and rented
"Spirited Away" for my other brothers and sisters. My mom said she'd
pay for it if I also got tortillas while I was out. Halfway through
the movie, Carly called. It was around 8:30. She asked what I was
doing, and soon said that she'd let me go. I asked if she called
literally just to say "hi" and ask what I was doing. She said,
"Well, if you're watching a movie..." I told her I'd seen it twice
already and she said that I could come over if I wanted, then. I
hesitated and then asked when would be the latest I could come
over, and she said anytime (I kinda wanted to finish the movie,
hehe). After the movie, I finished my drawing... oh, I haven't
mentioned my drawing yet, have I? Well, here's the story:
When I heard that Carly had to put her dog, Kizzy, to sleep, I
felt bad for her and wanted to do something for her. She loved that
dog, and believe me, she's an animal person. After some thinking, I
decided to draw a picture of a similar dog for her. Dogs of the same
breed look close enough, don't they? Hers was a beagle. I searched
the net for beagle pictures, and only found a few, and they looked
nothing like hers. Then I started to wonder if this present would
be something she'd really like, or if she didn't want anything to
remind her and make her sad and she wanted to move on. It would be a
big shame if I gave it to her and it made her more sad than happy
(I've had things that I do for others turn out bad way too many
times). The only person who would really know how she would like it,
besides herself, was her mom. She didn't want me to meet her
parents, but her mom came into Wal-Mart one time and so Carly
introduced me to her. I waited until I was at work and Carly was,
too, and then I called her house and asked her mom if Carly would
like it or not. She said that she thinks she would really like it,
because she had been looking for pictures of Kizzy lately. She also
said she could get me a picture of her dog to draw. Great, two birds
with one stone. She said she'd wait until Carly looked through them,
though, since she knew where they were. After about a week, I called
again and she said that they still hadn't looked through all of
them, but she did have a good one. I drove over there and she gave
it to me, and I got to see Carly's new puppy. It's so cute! After I
scanned and printed out a bigger black and white copy of it, I
returned the picture on the night I took Carly to see "Spirited
Away". I worked on drawing it on and off, and during my lunches on days
that Carly wasn't there. People saw it and said it looked really
good and that she would really like it and she might cry.
Well, I hurried and finished the drawing and then took a quick
shower since I needed one (take my word for it). It was about 11pm by
the time I left my house. She was watching taped episodes of "Wings"
and I played with her hyper puppy. After she was done and had fed
the dogs and cat I took the rolled-up picture and told her that she'd
have to make room on her wall for it. She asked what it was with a
tone that sounded almost afraid. I unrolled it and suddenly got
butterflies in my stomach. She looked at it and said with a normal
voice, "That's my dog." I agreed and then she said, "That's why my
mom was trying to get me to look through the pictures." I briefly
explained how she had given me the picture. She said it was really
good and after a silence, I said how I wanted to do something for
her for losing her dog and this was what I came up with. She said it
was really nice of me, but her voice was quiet. She put it up in a
blank spot on her wall and then showed me her favorite photos of
the same dog. Then she changed the subject and asked if I wanted to
watch a movie. The ones she listed I had either seen them or didn't
want to, except one. I had heard a lot about this movie, and didn't
know what it was about at all, but I wanted to see it out of
curiousity. The movie was "Pulp Fiction". No mistake, it was a
rather odd movie, but overall, I liked it. It's really long, though,
and it wasn't until about 3am that it was over. Carly and I were
sitting on the couch and taking turns holding Lia, her puppy. When
it was over, she had to go to bed since she would have to be at work
at 10am later this morning. We hugged and after I let go, I said how
I hated stopping a hug, and she agreed. She thanked me for the
picture and said she'd see me at work tomorrow. |
