What's going on today? 8/5/2003
I know, I know, I haven't been online for a while, so I'll explain why... in the next entry. I've gotta write about last Tuesday, first, while it's still in my memory.

It was my day off and Nick called saying he wanted to go play DDR since he hasn't played in a while, and of course, I accepted. It was a very weird day, though. Early in the morning (around 5ish) there was this thunder storm here and some of the thunder was heard not even a second after the lightning appeared. That's pretty dang close. Needless to say, I was awake and so were my brothers and my mom, who came into our room to see the lightning. I was on the computer before that and kept hearing these low rumble noises like someone was up doing something or walking around loud and I finally found out that it was muffled thunder I was hearing, lol. Anyway, thunder storms don't happen too often around here, so it was abnormal.

I picked up Nick and drove him down Highway 99, which is where the Gilbert Shopping Center is that has Putters in it, in which resides Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix (my favorite). We got to the 45 MPH zone indicating we were in Eugene and a few blocks before the Gilbert Shopping Center, there was a fire truck in the middle of the intersection, as well as a police car in the left lane facing the intersection, but on our side of it, and a Nissan pickup truck in the middle with the damaged area obviously on a side we couldn't see. Firemen were crowding the driver-side door. I contemplated going past once the light turned green, since the back of the fire truck was only barely sticking into my lane, but I decided against it, and soon after, an ambulance came and barely hit the back of the fire truck and blocked the area in front of me as the men took a stretcher out and brought it to the truck. They pulled someone out of the door and strapped them to the stretcher and carried them into the back of the ambulance. I could see the person well enough, but couldn't make out any blood anywhere, though the person was either unconscious or dead. The ambulance drove off and I sat there waiting for them to tell me when to go. A Suburban with flashing lights on top came in place of the ambulance and, after they left, the fire truck left, and finally a policeman came bearing a whistle and directed the intersection the old-fashioned way. We got to Putters and played nothing but DDR, naturally. He can usually get a little higher scores than I do, and can beat songs a little more often. We had pizza there.

He had to go to work so we had to go. On the way back, once we got out of the city speed zone, we stopped at a red light that everyone was stopping at, then going through. We sat there a little bit and decided that it was broken and wasn't going to change green, so we just went. Nick was like, "That's what causes accidents." The next light was the same way. After that, there was a line of cars stopped ahead of us and I looked ahead and the light up there was stuck on red as well. Cars were stopped at it for a while and then slowly going, causing the line to crawl along, so I turned into the turn lane and went right and drove along a parallel road until I got to another road that took me back onto the highway. There weren't any more lights after that except when we got into Junction City. Before we got there, however, we saw a fire truck and another emergency vehicle on the side of the road and men were crowded around the ditch that had lots of smoke rising from it and was part of a field. Once in Junction City, a truck turned and an orange cone fell off the back into the middle of an intersection. I got Nick to work and that was the end of the weird stuff, but it was a pretty unusual day.

wow, that's pretty eventfull. Intersection lights not working is not cool, but I've never seen any just stay red, they usualy blink red if they don't work. Oh well. Nice to see you writing again!
