Oh! Something I forgot in the last entry. When I was
coming back from trying to find his house, I looked at the clock in
my car and saw that it was 5:23! My aunt was going to take us to see
"Pirates of the Caribbean", since she hasn't seen it and it starts at
5:25 or something! I was supposed to be back before then. I hurried
over to the mall and got my ticket and it was actually 5:35, and when
I got in the theater, to my relief, I saw them and I sat by them.
They were glad I didn't miss it.
This morning, the main thing I did was to hook the new cable back
through the whole route that the old one went. It was twice as hard
getting it through the hole as it was getting the old one out. I
hooked one end to Andrea's computer and then had to go through her
cramped closet into the cramped room behind it and then through the
tiny door into the attic space adjacent to the wall where her bed is
against. I had to step on only the studs running along the floor
because everything inbetween was insulation and I'd fall through.
Not fun. So once I tip-toed to the other end, I had to squat and try
to fit the cable through the hole in the wall. Let me tell you,
trying for a while to push the end of a cable through a hole that
seems too small while squatting on a narrow piece of wood in a hot,
dark attic isn't my idea of fun. I finally got it through enough and
crawled out and went to the hole on the other side and pulled it the
rest of the way through. I wasn't about to get out of there only to
go back in, so I made sure I pushed it through enough before I went
out.
I grabbed it and pulled it to the hole in the floor that
went into the den via its ceiling. Guess what? I had a much harder
time getting it through that hole. I finally had to get the drill
out and make it bigger, though that proved harder than it sounds.
But I got it through and connected it to the hub and now she has the
internet upstairs for the first time. Yay!
Then Nick from work called to confirm our trip to finally see
"Anger Management" and asked me which showing I wanted to see. I
suggested the 5:10 one. My sister, Catie, had some film she wanted
developed, so I took it to Wal-Mart since I had to go there and ask
Chris or Phil directions again. Chris told me it was on Barger, but
then you have to turn right on Irwin and it's almost to the end. I
followed what he told me and, sure enough, there was Scott's house! I
knocked on the door and a lady answered and said that he wasn't
home, but she gave me his number. She's his mom, and she had a
little girl with her and she said she's his daughter. She said Scott
is a logger and wouldn't be home until later. I went to Phil's house
2 doors down and he wasn't home, either. Then I went back home, in
defeat again.
At 5, I remembered that I had a "date" with Nick so I rushed out,
despite my mom grudgingly agreeing to let me, even though I hadn't
done any chores today, and I got to the mall at 5:17. He was waiting
outside. We got our tickets and only missed barely any of the
beginning. It was a funny movie, but not as good as I was expecting.
On my way home, I decided to stop by Scott's again to see if he
was home. I got there and his mom came out and said that he wasn't.
He had come and gone many times since I checked. She took my name
and number and I was about to leave when he pulled in. I quickly
told him who I was and he knew me from what Phil told him. He
basically said he can do it in 2 days but it would have to be
weekend and he'd give me rides to and from work if he wasn't working
at the time. He also suggested staying with automatic since it would
be a lot more work and money to make mine manual. He said he'd call
me tomorrow and we can set up a time. He'll be doing it in his shop
but he has to go get it cleaned up first. So, at least I found him.
