          | Tomorrow is my last day of training, and what a day
it will be. The past days we learned a bunch about Norton AntiVirus.
Sean, our teacher, asked if any of us knew who They Might Be Giants
were, and a few people raised their hands. He had been talking about
how people will call in and say that the antivirus software killed
their computer, when it's only because their computer was already
messed-up and installing it just made the problems known. He said
that and it reminded him of TMBG's song, "Youth Culture Killed My
Dog." I asked him and he even has more of their CDs than I do! I
had to listen to a tech answer calls again, but this time I had to
type all the information down as he talked. Today I had to answer
calls while an experienced tech typed the stuff. I was nervous,
naturally. He said I did great, though. Tomorrow is going to suck.
We have to spend like half the day answering calls on our own and
recording all the information, just like we'll be doing for our job,
and every call will be recorded and graded. 85% or higher average
passes. Saturday will be the written test, and then I'm a certified
technician, ready to mess up people's computers... I mean fix them! We got a CD to take home that has Norton Internet Security 2003
(which is Norton AntiVirus and Personal Firewall) on it. I installed
it on both my and Andrea's computers. Hers had 3 infected files. I
downloaded Spybot - Search & Destroy and it found 9 files from
spy/adware on mine and somewhere around 100 on Andrea's. Comet Cursor is
one of them, but she tried convincing me to keep it because she
            likes the cursors.
I got my desk set up at work and we're allowed to change our
background image, so of course, that was the first thing I was going
to do, but they said that you have to email the picture you want
from another computer to your company email address so that it will
be scanned before it gets to your computer there. That's fine. I'm
looking forward to getting comfortable with this job, because once
I'm there, I just know it will be fun. |
